WHO I AM

Hi !

My name is Zimy but you will mainly find me on social medias by the name of Zimy Da Kid.

Iā€™m a Swiss based film director, photographer and conservationist.

I often love to say that I was ā€œborn in the mountains & raised by the oceanā€ because I grew up in the Swiss alps and the city of Lausanne to be exact but the ocean is where I feel most alive !

My deep passion for adventures and nature first brought me to the great outdoors as well as environmental causes but as a versatile filmmaker, I create all kinds of content and thrive when having to produce images in challenging conditions !

what i do

FILM PRODUCTIONS

As an artist, I always look for an original and eye-catching way to bring stories to life in order to stand out and take my clientsā€™s wishes to the next level.

You either have a message to tell, an idea to share or a vision to promote; I have the ability to bring your story to life and make it worth watching.

You can see my film productions here.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Beside my main occupation shooting films, I also shoot stills. My eye as well as my editing techniques allow me to stand out and be known for my own style.

Understanding light and composition are key elements in order to capture the best images possible.

You can have a look at my photography work here.

CONSERVATION

My deep passion for nature and wildlife naturally brought me to conservation.
It first started by using my skills in creating films and photos to educate people and raise awareness about environmental issues.

Over time, this part of my work grew a lot and I founded my own NGO called Deep Sea Guardians.

I mainly focus on shark conservation. Feel free to click here to learn more about my work for the ocean.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Creating visuals is my passion but making sure people see it is equally important.

This is why Iā€™ve been very active for years on social media, mainly Instagram and YouTube, where Iā€™ve been able to build an audience of more than 180ā€™000 people in total.

When used wisely, social media is an extremely powerful tool that Iā€™ve been studying for years in order to master and use it to not only my advantage but also my clientsā€™s advantage.

HOW I WORK

  • In order to start a new project, I always ask the client to be as clear as possible: what kind of production is needed? What are the goals of the production? Which platforms are going to be used to share the production? What are the deadlines and deliverables? Etcā€¦

That way I can have a clear overview of the project and give my own insight, ideas and artistic approach.

We also agree on a budget and conditions at this stage.

  • Once we agreed on the project direction, I start the pre-production: location scouting, finding talents that will appear in the production if needed, create a storyline or a storyboard depending on the needs.

At this stage, together with the client, we agree on the storyline, shooting locations and deadlines.

  • The production part consist of shooting all the footage needed to make the project come to life.

Depending on the location, environment and client needs, I have lots of different gear options to shoot.

Find more about the gear I use further down this page.

  • Once everything is shot, I start the post production process.

Post production includes a free of copyright soundtrack, cutting the whole film, sound design, color grading, basically everything needed to create a high-end film.

I usually offer 3 versions meaning that I first send a V1, make changes if needed, send a V2, make more changes if needed and then send a V3 final version. More versions can be agreed with the client if needed.

  • Once the whole production is wrapped up, I always send the final production through a WeTransfer link that can be downloaded by the client.

All my productions are in 4K resolution, 16x9 or anamorphic ratio depending what has been agreed.

I also create specific versions that are designed to perfectly fit each platform.

For example, Instagram versions are shorter, 1080p resolution and 9x16 ratio.

  • Once all the deliverables have been delivered, we can also work on social media campaigns together to maximize the impact of the visuals we created.

This can either include me promoting the production and posting it on my own social media or simply guiding the client on how to post and promote the campaign in order to have as much impact as possible.

Creating content is very important but using it right is equally important.

WHO I ALREADY WORKED WITH

I already had the honor and opportunity to work for some of the biggest companies in the film industry like DJI, Sony or Insta360 with long term relationships and recurring project proving their satisfaction.

You can find all the productions Iā€™ve created for them under my film productions page which is divided in 4 themes: Nature & Wildlife documentaries, Camera Brands, Sports Films and Commercial Videos.

I want to keep this website personal and only share productions that enter my niche which is the outdoor, sports and cameras.

Therefore, if youā€™re interested in seeing more of my production such as Corporate Films for example, I invite you to visit my production companyā€™s website: Zimyā€™Z Filmz.

  • Sony A1: The reference when it comes to versatility hybrid camera shooting up to 8K 4:2:2 10bit videos and 50 megapixels photos.
